The other privacy settings, in plain words

What HTTPS-Only Mode and the other switches do.

In Settings, Privacy & security has a few more switches. Here's what each one does.

  • HTTPS-Only Mode: makes sure sites use a secure connection, so people on the same Wi-Fi can't read what you send. If a site can't, you're asked before it opens.
  • Block third-party cookies: stops companies hidden inside other sites from following you from one site to the next.
  • Tell sites not to track you: asks every site not to sell or share your data. Many respect it, but not all do.
  • Offer to save passwords: offers to remember a password after you sign in.
Turning these on makes almost no difference to how sites look and work, so they're safe to try.
