Links that open inside other apps

Some apps show web pages over themselves. Here's what you can do there.

Some apps, like Gmail or Reddit, open web links on top of themselves instead of switching to the browser. When Smart Browser is your default browser, those pages open in Smart Browser, with a slim bar at the top in the app's own colour.

  • Close takes you straight back to the app.
  • The middle of the bar shows the site you're on, and the page's title if the app asks for it.
  • has Reload, Copy link, Share and Open in Smart Browser, plus anything the app adds of its own.

It works just like a tab in Smart Browser: you stay signed in, your settings such as ad blocking and link cleaning apply, saved passwords fill in, and pages you open are kept in your history.

Good to know

  • Sign in windows open over the page, and close back to it when you're done.
  • When a site asks for your camera, microphone, location or notifications, you're asked just as you are in Smart Browser, and your answer is remembered.
  • Downloads are saved as usual, and you'll find them in Downloads.
