Unapologetically Nation
Thoughtscape
I wonder sometimes
why I love the Nation
I know it's selfish,
thinking of us,
more than any other.
I say it's not love,
but survival,
where our heroes
are spanned across
the soil of legacy.
I say it's not belonging,
but an emotional identity,
woven into each of us,
struggling on shared shoulders.
I say it's not reality,
but a dream,
a hope we hold,
a memory that echoes,
inside each of us.
I say it's not family,
but a souvenir,
passed down through time,
from legends united.
So, I say I am sorry
not out of guilt,
but because some expect me to be.
For carrying the weight
of our undying legacy.
