App shortcuts. The icons you add, remove, or group into folders on this page are saved only in your browser's local storage, on this device. They are never sent to or stored on our servers, and they will not appear if you open this page in another browser, device, or incognito window.
Settings. Whether the latest blog posts section is shown, and your chosen background, are also saved only in your browser's local storage, the same way as app shortcuts.
Background. The Bing option fetches today's photo of the day from Bing through this site's server (Bing never sees your IP or browser directly). Gradient needs nothing from anywhere. A photo you upload yourself is resized in your own browser and stored only in local storage — it is never uploaded to any server.
Search box. Typing in the search box sends each partial query to DuckDuckGo's public autocomplete service to show suggestions as you type, and sends your final query to the search engine when you submit it. Nothing is logged by this page.
Analytics. Like other pages on this site, this page uses Google Analytics to understand general visitor behaviour such as page views. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google Analytics.
